"There is magic and wonder in The River Witch, but the real enchantment here is the strength of the characters Roslyn and Damascus. Their voices are the current that carries the reader along in this compelling tale of healing and discovery."
~~ Sharyn McCrumb, New York Times bestselling author of The Ballad of Tom Dooley.
"With lyrical prose, Kimberly Brock explores the hidden places of the heart. The River Witch is a magical and bewitching story that, like a river, winds its way through the soul. In the voices of her wounded characters, Brock takes us through both the breaking and the healing of a life."
~~ Patti Callahan Henry, New York Times bestselling author of Driftwood Summer

Glynn - A friend shard the amazon e-book link earlier this week because she knows I sing Sacred Harp. I thought, “for $1.99 I’ll take a chance.” I am enjoying the book so far and am reading from it from three devices, wherever I happen to be whenever.
Do you sing in the square? I finally made it to B’ham to sing in July and would love to someday sing in some of the old places whose wood structure is saturated with melody. Thanks for including this bit of heritage in your work.
admin - Oh, how I wish I sang in the square! I have watched documentaries and fondly remember my days in the choir at my small church growing up. And I do plan to find a way to attend a singing in the near future!
I don’t think I do the Sacred Harp justice in this book, only tried to scratch the surface of the experience and to give it the dignity it deserves. I know the power of song and family and community and I hope that comes through in the book.
Thanks for taking a chance and I do hope you enjoy the story. Happy Reading! xo
Diane Finnegan - Love The River Witch!!! Can’ t wait for your next book.
admin - Thanks! I’m hard at work…
Laura Bendoly - Hi Kim. I heard you today at the Decatur Book Festival and was very inspired by the description of your novel’s evolution and with how bravely you fought for its preservation. I have turned around a plot I truly loved b/c of one person’s advice, and not, I think, to the benefit of the story. So – here’s to keeping our own voices. I’d love to correspond more about work. Mine is intergenerational, inter-cultural and often features out of place protagonists, like yours. My latest takes place on the barrier islands off Savannah, too.
Very nice to have met you today.
admin - Lovely to meet you, too! Thanks so much for all your kind words and for attending my lecture at DBF. I’d love to chat some time.
admin - Thank you so much! xo
Claire - Hey mom, have fun at the signing!!! And I hope that you are loving your book alot
Sheila - I loved hearing from you at our book club. You come up with such great characters. This was a very touching book for so many reasons but mainly because we really do bring part of ourselves into every book we read! A good ole southern story can really provoke thought, conversation, and in some change. Thank you for taking your time to write this book, I enjoyed every page.
Bonnie - Hi Kimberly: I attended your writing class last weekend at Foxtale’s. Today I finished your page-turner after just starting it Monday. Your characters are so rich there was a sense of loss that the book had to end. Your use of setting makes the story flow like a river on a melody. I am so pleased to have met you, and to have the chance to read such a wonderful book.
Julee Windmiller - I am halfway through The River Witch and am totally engrossed.
I am taken away by it. Was so interested in Sacred Heart music that I watched some on You Tube and orded the movie “Awake My Soul”. I want to sing that music. Seemed to be a part of me when first I heard it. Thanks for such a beautiful story. Will hate to finish it.
admin - I am delighted to know you’re enjoying the book and that the story means so much to you. What a wonderful message to receive. Thank you and happy reading! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts when you’ve finished. xoxo
Kathleen M. Rodgers - Love your website, Kimberly. Informative and lovely graphics.
