Oral History

Beginning later this year, my mother and I will begin a joint project that I’m very honored to be a part of. As time allows, she will be volunteering at a local rehabilitation center where she has been recovering from an injury for the last few months. While there, she was touched by the other residents – both their spirit and their stories. Since then, she’s been approached by the staff, who realized my mother’s great love for reading and her easy connection with their residents. They asked if she would volunteer her time and return after her recovery to read to some of the residents. From this experience, an idea was born.

Oral History  ~sharing our stories one book at a time

Sharing stories is powerful.  And as my mom has learned, reading together can create relationships that reach far beyond the pages of a book or our imaginations – they can reach into our own lives, our memories, even into the future. Stories preserve us, inspire us, encourage us and most of all, convince us we are not alone. What is shared here challenged us to never take our stories – our voices – for granted. And in that spirit, we hope to give value to these stories, because they are gifts of the human heart.

We hope this page will be a gift to you. And to encourage you all to make time to read to someone near you.

It’s magic. I promise.

…more to come very soon…
