The First Annual Tinderbox Writers Retreat is an inspiring four-day celebration of story. Challenge your writing and find clarity for your voice in this oceanfront sanctuary for women writers... Take to the sea to write, create, make art and nourish your Creative Core!
Because we all have a journey to take, a truth to speak and a story to tell!
This retreat was created to nurture the creative spirit of women, to celebrate our stories through the written and spoken word. We’ll spend four transformative days, writing, reading, and sharing. You’ll be challenged to explore the deeper questions about what you want to say in your writing. We will begin our days with walks on the beach, nourish ourselves while cooking together, embrace solitude when we need a quiet moment, and form friendships that will last a lifetime. Your heart and your writing will grow through workshops and intimate sessions created to transform your writing.
Friday – mid-afternoon arrivals, Welcome Dinner and kick-off (cooked by Kimberly! Rumor has it there will be home-made apple pie and peach cobbler!)
Saturday – Monday – breakfast, morning workshop, lunch, silent afternoons for writing and beach walks and naps, dinner, evening readings (Sunday dinner with guest author, Kristy Woodson Harvey)
Tuesday – closing gathering on the beach. Departures by 10am.
For women only. Shared rooms. Twin or Queen beds. Attendees off-site are responsible for arranging their own housing. All attendees responsible for their own travel.
Each day, participants will bring manuscripts of their work-in-progress to our workshop group where they will participate in guided exercises, generate knew pages, and discuss and receive feedback about their projects. During our evening readings we will gather to share our work. (Workshop manuscripts should be limited to 16-20 pages fiction or non-fiction.)
Writers will have plenty of time to rest, relax and explore the island during the morning and afternoons. In addition, writers will meet with Kimberly 1:1 to discuss their manuscripts in detail.
