The Review Copy Arrives

I had to share with those of you who are waiting along with me for the publication of my first novel. Today the review copies arrived in the mail. Well, maybe I slightly accosted the UPS man. Maybe I even waited at the window and watched with great angst as he passed my house and pulled up my neighbor’s drive. Perhaps, I waited for a brief second before hurtling myself out my front door, across my lawn, through an ACTUAL blackberry briar patch, and onto my neighbor’s drive. I’m not saying that I believe I might have frightened the delivery guy with my wild eyes and unhinged laughter and lame excuses for peering into the open door of his truck.

I will say this. He handed me this very heavy box, real quick.

And I am happy.

**Not the actual cover, this is a mock-up. But oh, so sweet to finally see this story in print!!

Girl Parker - Unhinged laughter. hahhaha! I’d have done the same thing. Congratulations!!! Too bad that’s not the real cover. I love the wrap-around style of it. Hope you’re spinning in your chair or sliding down the hall in your socks. =)

Audra - I can completely appreciate the excitement — such a thrill. Congrats, congrats!

Erika Marks - Oh, babycakes–what a sight! We are so proud of you and The River Witch! (And I SO love that you hurled yourself at that man–no briar can come between a woman and her ARCs!!!)

Hallie Sawyer - You are entitled to do whatever the hell you want. Tackle the guy next time! He’ll know next time to make sure he gets the right house. 🙂

Love ya and so happy that you are one step closer to publication day! Woo hoo!

Melissa Crytzer Fry - LOVED this story… and I’m afraid I would have been an even “scarier” character for your poor UPS guy. ha ha. You must STILL be beaming, even though I’m late to the party. Congratulations on the birth of your book baby! You deserve to be this happy, woman.

Jessica McCann (@JMcCannWriter) - I’m laughing out loud at this visual, Kim. So funny, and so perfect. I did pretty much the same thing, except I had to get through the front door without letting my two large, “killer” dogs escape in the process. My UPS guy is not fond of the dogs, you know. So he looked a little peeved that I didn’t wait until he made it safely back to his truck to retrieve my prize the way I usually do. He got over it, and so will your guy. That big box only comes ONCE in a lifetime!

Karen Babb - I knew from the moment you first pushed yourself into the world two months early that you were going to do great things! My only concern was that you’d marry some wierdo who would prevent that! My prayers were answered when Daniel Brock ask you to be his wife, even though the first words out of my mouth didn’t exactly say that! 🙂 You have always been a blessing to me. Almost a soul mate. You seem to always understand, or at least try to understand when my brain went on vacation or ran away screaming for awhile. And no need for me to mention the constant buying of the exact same things right down to birthday cards. You have lived my dream for me!! I am so proud of you Kimmie! Always have been even when we had to do things like fight fruit flies fighting over rotten oranges 🙂 I probably could go on and on, but I won’t 🙂 That’s not fair for a Mom to do! I’ll wait until you’re on something like NBC or ABC or CBS and they ask me for “just a few background stories” 🙂 Can’t wait to watch your star rise higher and higher. Me and Dad will be there to cheer you on, even if Daddy has to sit in a room full of blue haired ladies again having tea during an Atlanta afternoon of poetry reading. hehe

carole lawton - Ohhh, Birthing a baby has such sweet rewards! This one has many legs and I’ll bet those corners hurt a bit but on the bliss! Oh proud of and for you!

March 14, 2012 - 9:33 pm

admin - You know it will, Caroline! I’ll be cheering!!

March 14, 2012 - 9:13 pm

Caroline - Good for you! Someday it’ll be my turn….

March 14, 2012 - 7:58 pm

admin - Maybe they ought to include a special section on ‘Confronting the Frantic, Housebound Author’ in the UPS handbook. 😉

March 14, 2012 - 7:58 pm

Candace - Amazing! I would have done the same thing, it’s hard to remain composed when you’re so excited! Congratulations!!! Can’t wait to see it for myself!

March 14, 2012 - 7:57 pm

admin - Thanks, Denise! That made my day! XOXO

March 14, 2012 - 7:49 pm

Denise - That is sooo exciting! Now that I have read the teaser chapters, I can’t wait to read the whole thing. Probably in one sitting. 🙂

March 14, 2012 - 7:47 pm

Julia Munroe Martin - I’m pretty sure I’d have behaved in exactly the same way — isn’t there a rule for proper etiquette when you’re waiting for the review copies, that the UPS driver looks at you askance at the very least? 😉 Congrats again, Kimberly!
